Top Shelf Mexican Food & Cantina: Authentic Flavors in Phoenix

This place has been a staple in my family for years since it was my grandfather favorite and we still visit every year since he passed and it still delivers, every time. The food is delicious and the service is great. One thing I will say is the decor is out of date and can has an off putting smell to it (the carpet is old), I wish the owners would invest in what they have and make what is great, fabulous!

Solid four stars for getting everything right. Food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Portions are just right and the hot sauce is great. I had the chicken taco salad and the shell was perfect, lettuce fresh and chicken was shredded and generous. Wife love the fresh beef tacos and son had the chili rellano. We were all happy with the food and very reasonable prices. $43 for 3 complete dinners.

Been going here for over 40 years and the food is always amazing, best chips and salsa (mix the hot and mild), Margs all very very good! My go to has always been the beef enchilada with extra cheese, cans best hard shell chicken/beef tacos around. Our server was amazing she was very prompt, courteous.. checked how we were doing and how the food was.. and let us enjoy our dinner. Always one of my best places for a great Mexican food dinner.

Top Shelf was a solid Mexican food restaurant! The chips and salsa were good, and portions were generous. I was impressed how the waitress was on the ball with more chips and drinks. She was also excellent with customer service overall. The food was made quickly and they were able to serve a group of 20 all at once, no easy feat! I liked the wrap around layout that had the regular seating on one end and bar on the other. They also have a great outdoor section. Prices were normal. We had several of the combos which were all good. The sampler platter was fun and the house chimi was epic! I ate it so fast I forgot to take a pic.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade and the food is always phenomenal and I love all the servers, especially Brent! He’s awesome. Janice the GM is a sweetheart and always goes above and beyond to make sure you’re happy with your food. She is so sweet and easy to talk to. I highly recommend their green chile!!

My hubby took me out for dinner and it was my first time trying Top Shelf. The food was delicious and our server Brent B. Was very attentive, friendly, and informative. We will definitely be back in the future!

Good Sunday lunch at the bar watching Buffalo Bills. Nice bartender and very good frozen margarita. Two taco lunch special also very good with lots of chicken.

Date nite out w/ hubbie! First time eating here & it won't be our last. When we walked in we were sitted immediately and asked if the table location was fine. Our waitress was beyond amazing. The food was delicious & the meat was moist. With very generous portions. The drinks were tasty and it had a kick... Which we loved so much... Parent's nite off... yes ma'am. Walked out stomachs full and feeling good!!!
